Tom Hartley has made it very clear he will not take part in the military remembrance ceremony marking the anniversary of the Somme. I wonder if he will meet the same level of a sustained barrage of criticism from the media that TumbleDown Iris received because of her recent remarks.
One anniversary Hartley will attend is the planned anniversary of "The Great Escape." I am not talking about the famous war movie, I am talking about the anniversary of the breakout of the Maze prison almost 25 years ago. The event is due to take place in the Whiterock Leisure Center. Full details can be found in The North Belfast News. (Although I do not agree with the political philosophy of those who run this newspaper, I must admit it is vastly superior to the absurd Newletter).
Can you imagine the outcry if the Unionist community were to use a Council Leisure center to highlight the "Murder of Abraham Lincoln by the Vatican" or some other truly historical informative event?
Here are 3 questions regarding the event that is going to being eulogised in the Whiterock Leisure Center.
What was the name of the "Protestant" involved in the escape and what British army regiment had he served in?
How many of the escapers went on to beome MI5 employees?
