MSM articles in recent days relating to the British Armies role in this part of Britain over the past 38 years seem to portray it as some glorious military campaign in which 763 soldiers sadly lost their lives in legitimate combat!
According to MSM soldiers were "killed", this is untrue, soldiers were murdered.
Gunner Robert Curtis was the first soldier to be murdered in Feb 1971. Most current articles relating to his death say, "he was shot by a sniper." This is a gross misrepresentation of Gunner Curtis`s death. He did not go to his death as a soldier going into battle, the only weapon he carried was a wooden baton. He was lured to his death by a rioting crowd in Lepper street. Someone from the crowd threw a blast bomb when Curtis`s riot squad moved forward, the crowd then scattered and allegedly William Reid opened fire with a machine gun hitting a number of the soldiers and murdering Curtis, who were by now all exposed easy targets!
A month later 3 Scottish soldiers were lured from a city center pub by people who they thought were friends. They were taken to Ligoniel and all 3 shot in the back of the head! No one was ever convicted for the murders.
The last soldier murdered was Stephen Restorick; anyone who needs convincing of how depraved the terrorcratic society in N.Ireland is can do the research and find out how long those convicted of his murder served in prison!
A number of articles have been written about the Falls road curfew. The articles give the impression the Army suddenly descended upon a peace loving people going about their business. The army raids on the Falls road were in response to an ongoing terror campaign of bombing and shooting. During the searches the Army uncovered over 100 illegal firearms of various kinds.
