Just noticed this small statement in the Daily Telegraph. It must be in the running for the funniest political comment of the year so far.
Chris Grayling MP, Dr Fox's former campaign manager in his bid to become Conservative Party leader, defended Fox on this morning's BBC Radio 4's Today programme, saying: "I thought we had got past the point in politics where we needed to worry about people's private lives."
Asked about the rumours over the Defence Secretary's sexuality, Mr Grayling said: "If you look around the Westminster village you will find all kinds of wild gossip about all kinds of individuals in all parties. That doesn't mean they are not good at their jobs.
"I've known Liam for many years, I've known Liam and his wife, they've always struck me as being a very happily married couple."
Over the past few decades a few myths have been created, one of them is that a "British" politician`s private life does not matter as long as he is good at he job. If any public figure is willing to deceive his wife and family about any issue, he will not think twice about lying and deceiving the public at large!
The private lives of people who seek to govern the nation is very important and ought to be able to withstand public scrutiny.
The other myth is the foolish notion is that Westminster, (I think some people nowadays call it the "Westminster bubble") is some sort of elite place were the gossip commonly known in Westminster is not known in the streets and highways of the UK.
There are possibly a few million people in the UK who could soon find out the names of all the perverts in the "Westminster Bubble."
You notice in Grayling`s statement he does not bother trying to deny the rumours and gossip! He tries to deflect it by claiming jobworthiness covers it all up.
The so-called British establishment is deceiving itself if it thinks every dark secret is not known to the public.
For example try convincing people in N.Ireland Louis Mountbatten was not a pervert linked to the Kincora scandal!
"When they say they are good at their jobs." What they really mean is, they are good at their jobs because their jobs are all about telling lies and the are all natural born liars!
Jeremiah 50:36
36 A sword is upon the liars; and they shall dote: a sword is upon her mighty men; and they shall be dismayed.
John 8:44
44 Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.
