WHY IS AMSTERDAM SO POPULAR WITH CERTAIN TYPES OF PEOPLE?

The local Sunday World carries a story about a local boy made BAD, VERY BAD!!! A new book has been published looking into the gory details of a certain William Beggs. I did read somewhere Beggs was forced to flee N.Ireland because of "Loyalist paramilitary" threats. There are claims he was involved in some "sex orgy" with local businessmen.

His career seems to have really taken off when he went to England. He was convicted of a murder in 1987 but freed on a technicality?????????? When he went to Scotland his career sky-rocketed.

This section is from the "Sunday World" (please bear in mind the Sunday World has had to apologise on numerous occasions for getting its facts WRONG)

The Amazon description of the book states the following........ "It examines how he managed to create an air of respectability around himself while perpetrating the most vicious of crimes;"

Not having a great deal of knowledge about this character I must say my first impressions are that somebody somewhere has been protecting this individual for quite some time.

For some reason he did flee to Amsterdam when he thought apprehension was imminent. Is there some sort of "Old Boys Network" connected with Amsterdam? Does anyone know? How many times can someone REINVENT themselves without help?
