This is a very famous verse which is well known even by unbelievers. Many mistakenly think it says, "money is the root of all evil." However. it states it is the love of money, which is the root of all evil.

1 Timothy 6:10
For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.
