There is much confusion in N.Ireland at this time as many try to come to terms with just what has been going on for the last 40 years.
Who are the experts at causing confusion and division?
Many people are expecting a book to emerge quite soon based on secret tapes made by the late Brendan Hughes. It is thought the revelations will prove damaging to Gerry Adams. Adams is already under pressure regarding his role during the hunger strikes.
Whether the British security services let such a book see the light of day remains to be seen, they have to protect their prize assetts after all. At least until they become expendable!
"Don`t worry, I have made tapes!"
Scappatticci is suspected to have made tapes as well that is why he was able to treat the "Republican leadership," with utter contempt.
Like many in N.Ireland today Brendan Hughes uttered what has now become a classic N.Ireland cliche, "What was it all about?"
It is easy to see what it was all about, the naive "Republicans," who thought they were fighting for a United Ireland, were just stooges for MI5 whose real intention was to have them slaughter Ulster Protestants.
Thesis-Antithesis-Synthesis!
