Most Christians in N.Ireland are brought up on a diet of glorifying in the lives of Christian marytrs of bygone eras.

However, the reality is; for every martyr there are at least 10,000 turncoats and deceivers. The events which have unfolded in N.Ireland over the past 5 years have demonstrated this to be true.

"It's all a matter of power politics," says Alan Marshall, author of a book on intelligence and espionage in the Restoration period.

He adds: "The espionage angle always blurs what you might call normal morality because it then comes down to functionality"... to whether or not an operation was successful.
That was an environment which amply suited Sir George Downing.

Downing would have been proud to be the leader or even a member of the Kincora Old Boys Association!

Note the fact he kept his head well down when Cromwell ruled the roost!
