There is a story in this weeks North Belfast News which would be laughable if it were not serious. Some dimwit English woman has taken it upon herself to do "penance" for the trouble Oliver Cromwell caused. Naturally she has had her photo taken at the Cromwell mural in the Lower Shankhill.
According to her and some equally dimwitted "community worker" the mural has to go because of what it say about Babylon! She is particularly concerned about the "subliminal message" the mural could be giving to young folk. This is not the word for word article which appears in N.Belfast News, it is what I am able to remember of it. You can read it for yourself if you lift the paper in some shop.
I wonder what she will say when she sees the Martin Luther mural in the same area?
You cannot help comparing this to the excuses given for wanting the band parade stopped in Rasharkin because it is an 80% Babylonian village. The Shankhill is probably 100% Unionist/British but Babylonian agiatators still want a Protestant British mural removed from a wall, SIMPLY BECAUSE IT TELLS THE TRUTH ABOUT BABYLON!
Given the perilous state that "Unionism" finds itself in today, I would not at all be surprised if some DUP, OUP/CON, and some ubiquitous loony "community representative," volunteer to remove the mural and replace with something more in keeping with the prevailing political atmosphere, Benedict Arnold perhaps! that should keep the American tourists amused!
For those of you who are really stupid, the intention is for it to happen again only on a worldwide scale!
